Cottage Industry

   


    The Notre Dame of Jolo Cottage Industries, Incorporated is a non-stock non-profit corporation. Its main purpose is to utilize, develop and preserve the art, native skills and creativity on traditional native Cottage industry of the Tausug, the Samal and the Bajau tribes into income-generating activities of their men and women in the production of cottage handcraft and to serve as showcases of the tribes’ arts and crafts.

General Objectives:

1. To utilize, develop and preserve the art, native skills and creativity on traditional cottage industry of the Tausug, the samal and the Bajau tribes to serve as showcase of their arts and crafts;

2. To develop the traditional native cottage industry in the form of mat weaving, pis weaving, etc. of the Tausug, the Samal and the Bajau women into income-generating activities to augment the family income; and

3. To highlight and bring to the fore the art and skills of the people of Sulu embodied in their mat, hand-woven cloth, carvings, and other forms of art.
